just think of these < > as a hungry animals open mouth, and they will want to eat the bigger block of food(number).

X < Y, X is less than Y

X > Y, X is larger than Y

Y < X, Y is less than X

Y > X, Y is greater than X

A < X < Y, A is less than X which is less than Y,

A > X > Y. A is greater than X which is greater than Y

I hope this helps you.

Best regards - Al

1/8 < T < 1/2

T=Thickness
Thickness is greater than 1/8 and less than 1/2 then.....
I think that part was confusing.

You have it!

The arrow always point to the small number or value.
