Picked this one up from another forum. Must have been running short on flanges.

Maybe they could not find a Gasket.

The next time I underbid a job I will go this route.
Save on gaskets, bolts, nuts, flanges, wasted time tightening bolts and two holing the flanges.

They're taking LEEDS to a whole nuther level.

Looks like a nice job to me.....did what had to be done!

They didn't specify what this was on. The material suggest Low temp to cryogenic service. I doubt very seriously this was what the designers intended, and I can think of several potential problems with this 'fix'. I'll be following the resolution of it with some interest as it is my understanding it was kicked back by the engineer. We will see.

Not only cryogenic service, Gerald. Also corrosive one.

I especially like the duct tape tubing supports beneath the valve.  I'll have to add that to the ever-growing list of uses for duct tape.

I think the duct tape tubing should make it to the farm code rev 1

And it looks like they allowed it occur more than once on that rack!!! ;)
(See underneath the close-up and to the right)

More time to repair, and replace with correct design than to install in the first place!!! What a Clusterf@&ck!!! :(

Respectfully,
Henry

Could be food service. Seen some flaky stuff in a cheese plant. Everything was SS. But sure missed up a high dollar gate valve.

I've welded in a bunch of weld end valves over the years.  These generally had beveled ends for butt welding however some of the smaller ones were socket weld ends.  Looking at the rack it sees like there in another valve welded in the same way.  Could the valve have been machined for a socket weld and the balance of the flange remains?

Certainly unique in my experience. I hope its unique period. LOL.
