Up Topic Welding Industry / Inspection & Qualification / Any Pile cage( BS7123 ) expert ?

Hi ,

We are making pile cages of materials A36 (plain bar) to Gr.460B (rebar ) using SMAW. The procedure and welders are qualified as per BS7123:1989.
Now, I'm in ambiguity, as that BS code wont tells anything about acc. criteria. Can anyone pls solve my confusion?

Replies are appreciated.

My guess would be EN5817 (Visuel acc. criteria)

Ambiguity indeed! :)

Please check whether your contract specification stated the following:

Welder qualification in BS EN 287-1:2004

Welding Procedure Qualification Test in  BS EN 15614 (formerly BS EN 288-3)

Hi Joey,

Thanks for the suggestions.

I checked those but in vain.

Since we are welding hooks ( A36 ) for lifting purpose, I thin it falls under the category AWSD1.1 and so the acc. criteria?

NKumar,

Lifting lugs can be temporary attachment.

You are referring to BS EN and then suddenly you switch to AWS D1.1

Seek the advise of your Project Engineer, who is the prime interpreter of specifications for the job.
