I'm entering!
The rest of you mere mortals need not apply. Unless of course you wish to witness master molten metal manipulation raised to it's deified perfection.
SUPERFLUX shall Dominate the Dominator competition! And all who dare to cross my path will squat B4 me like a whimpering puppy.

Seriously though, sounds like a good time. Hope to meet some you there. I guess contingent upon I pass their screening process.

Good Luck
Even 20 years ago I would of challenged you.
But today being off my tools that long I know I am rusty.
But seriously I hope you get to prove your flux.

I just printed out half a dozen and spread them out among the shops, now I'm getting tons of questions.  Well I'm glad they are interested.

Wacco,

But your good looks will account for something. This is TV, you know.

make sure y'all bring a lunch box, because I'll be taking you to school.

Beauty before age is how it goes now.  It will be like stealing candy from a bunch of old geysers... I mean respected senior craftsmen.

Questionnaire sent in, should be fun, wonder if they'll pick a young buck like me.

Hey Metarinka, you better watch out or Kix might decide to show up and "school" the youngster. Couldn't help but poke some additional fun here from an "old geezer". Best regards, Allan

You folks all know that I have a tremendous amount of respect for your knowledge and feel pretty confident that your skills are also impressive. My knowledge is run of the mill and my skill has gotten me by for years as an "Acceptable" welder. However, with this being a nationally broadcast show, the producers are going to want someone that not only welds good, but looks good too!

Thus, click here and realize that some things are JUST NOT FAIR !

After a night of hunting for the ever elusive overlap on spiral welded pipe, I found this interesting.

I think that may reduce my chances a bit !
Parent - By Lawrence (*****) Date 02-23-2010 15:50
You can get Jessi and Bryan Fuller and Jay Lenno  all on a really nice CD... Pretty good to pass out to high school instructors and guidance councelors.....

I think the ladies have it..

No defects... no discontinuities

I'll pull out my trump card,
I'm a former fashion model.   Not gonna post any pictures, but I did modelling for a few years. If it wasn't for the fact that fashion people are all crazy I woulda done it for a few more. $100-$300/hr was what i was paid.
Parent - - By Lawrence (*****) Date 02-23-2010 16:31
I'm pretty sure most of us are gonna prefer Jessi.

But you go ahead and pull your card Joel.

:)

I do hope so, I can only hope to try to bring up viewership in the female demographic. I stay away from female welders though, never become involved with someone in the same field. never ends well.

Gerald,
You need to post a warning for that link. LOL Scared the crap out of me, that was almost as bad as looking in the mirror in the morning. :-)

Speaking of mirrors... Let's have a welding contest on mirror welding with SMAW and/or GTAW because, I've seen many a hot-shot welder (including some sharp shooting gals! ;) ) over the years crumble to pieces when it came to welding with a mirror, or two, or even three.... Then we'll see who's got the right stuff, and I'm sure Gerald would most definitely agree with me on this one!!! :) :) :)
I know there's a few of you folks out there now!!! ;) ;) ;)

Respectfully,
Henry

no kidding mirrors LOL I have had to use one many times at work but have heard of guys having to use 2 and 3 at times
Parent - - By pipewelder_1999 (****) Date 02-23-2010 20:57
The mirror, Its not just for making yourself look good before welding!

I know some jam up tube welders that would be suprised at the effort it takes to weld in a trap manifold! Or just to cut one out without nicking the pipe!

I think it would be great to just get together with a bunch of the people on the forum and just weld for fun. The things we could learn from each other would be priceless.

"I think it would be great to just get together with a bunch of the people on the forum and just weld for fun. The things we could learn from each other would be priceless."

Indeed, that would be quite an experience.

Now that's an idea that Ross could chew on and think about turning it into some sort of realistic gathering of some sort in the near future. ;) Good One Gerald!!! :) :) :)

Another one would be how good someone with no previous experience on RR rails or frogs, could make a "Clean" cut on the steel... Not as easy as some may think as some pretty good pipe bevel cutters found out in a recent local Welding Distributor expo in the area. ;) Pipe mirror welding is not something for the not so confident either! especially on open root repairs when it comes to access, etc. ;)

Respectfully,
Henry
