Hello Pipeslayer, are you referring to gas-shielded fluxcore? If so, you will certainly experience a much higher rate of deposition as well as a lot more "heat" that your body and extremities will need shielding from. A change in your welding shade might be in order also as the increase in amperage will likely require it. If you are contemplating out-of-position work, I don't believe that the 3/32" will be very friendly. Just a few items that you might consider. Best regards, Allan

I found this pdf. if you are speaking of self-shielded wire, it has plenty of relevant information for you to consider when using the 3/32" wire. Best of luck.

Ive run alot of 3/32 NS-3M (lincoln),  works great for lots of stuff. You better have a long reach fluxcore gun and a 500 amp machine.

Welding grouser wear bars on d10 track pads, relining blades, and sheeps foot drum repair  are some of the things I have used it for.

Thanks guys I was curious as to the out of position welding. I didnt think that it was suitable for 3G and 4G welding. If someone has knowledge of it please chime in.

2g is do-able, but really works best flat

So flat and Horizontal fillet is about it.

2" and thicker for columns and base plates.

Be careful with 3/32" out of position....many of the 3/32 FCAW wires are Flat and Horz only. After you cross the 1/16" threshold, many of the wire mfgs seem to recommend 1F/G and 2F/G only, for the same wire designation.

I think the puddle is pretty large and fluid for the 3/32" size wire making it difficult to control out of position...just my thoughts as to why.

BTW, we run many thousands of pounds of 3/32" FCAW every year...stuff like this takes 10 or more 60# rolls of wire to weld up.
