I didn't see any provision in D1.1-2010 allowing the evaluation of a welder performance test coupon using UT. There is a provision that permits the use of RT in lieu of performing the guided bend test.

While many welds are examined by the UT method I don't see any indication of acceptance for UT in place of RT or Bend Tests for Welder Qualification.  Not in D1.1 anyway.

it is permitted according to ASME SEC IX 2010 QW 302.2 not AWS D1.1
