Tin (molecular mass 118.7, specific gravity 7.28, melting point 231.9 degrees Centigrades), is a metal that belongs to the same chemical family than lead and germanium.
Apart from soldering, it's widely used for making copper alloys (bronze for example), and for surface protection of some metals (steel for example).

Handloaders who shoot cast bullets use it as an alloying agent to harden lead. It is a component of pewter. Babbit (a bearing material) contains tin and lead.

Try www.atlasmetal.com

Sometimes, the problem is finding small quantities if that is your need.

I'm told that places dealing with boat maintenance/supplies may carry tin.

Good luck.
