Based on ISO standard 25239-3 Qualification of Welding Operators for friction stir welding

Hey guys,

Does anyone knows whether friction stir welding has any ISO standard for its welding position. (Eg. FSW welding position PA is also suitable for position PB)  is there any ISO standard i can refer to for the range of qualification) .

From what i know from fusion welding process (ISO 9606) has its own welding position requirement such as butt weld position:PA is only suitable for only butt weld position :PA.

Thanks for the help.!!

I don't know about the Code/Standard requirements but what I understand of friction stir welding, positioning would not stand in need of variable status.

Why not?

Solid state man!

No melty

no drippy

no slaggy

Gravity a questionable factor

Lawrence,
That's good. I think I'll use that at some point in the future.

badge1988, I don't have access to 25239-3 at the present but as a quicky, if you look under section 2, it should give you a list of 'Normative' standards, if it mentions EN287 or less likely 9606 then those are the standards for your welding operators to qualify. If this is so, welding position is an essential.
