I have a 1-in. thick plate that I'm doing a WPS for and the sample is too big for our fixtures and/or load capabilities. I don't see anything that says you can use a reduced size sample for 1-inch thick plate. I only see that requirement for Table 4.9 steels. This is ASTM A36 material so that wouldn't apply in this case. Does anyone know if you can use a round sample for 1-inch thick plate?
Figure 4.14 (in D1.1 2010) has the info for reduced-section tension specimens.
