Gentlemen and or Ladies,

I need clarification on T, Y, K connections please. Here is my Understanding. Please let me know if I'm missing something.

1. According to Annex K (D1.1 2010) definitions of tubular connection and tubular joint only one member has to be tubular for it to be considered a Tubular connection.

2. These apply to statically and cyclically loaded structures only.

3.If I want to qualify a procedure for T, Y, and K connections welded from one side without backing using GMAW-S and FCAW-G on box tubing I will need to follow figure 4.27 and 4.29

4. My welders will need to be qualified per 4.27 or 4.28 and 4.29 as well.

Please advise.

Thank you in advance,

Dave

Does anyone read these?

Yes we do, but there are times where it is difficult to respond without sarcasm.

You should be using the most recent edition of the New Farm Code unless you have an existing contract that requires the use of an earlier edition of D1.1.

If you are using the latest edition of the New Farm Code, clause 9 is where you will find answers to your inquiry.

Best regards - Al
