Very interesting indeed... I guess they would have to "beet" D1.2 if they are going to use 70 ksi low hydrogen electrodes.

There is a slight misunderstanding of the intent. The electrode is the material used for low hydrogen rivets. The need for low hydrogen is to prevent porosity while driving the rivets.

This sounds like something right out of the "Farm Code." Although the Farm Code is not referenced, it's clear that the word "beet" has been misspelled and the intention implies that the welding shall "exceed" that of D1.2. As a QC manager, when there are discrepancies, part of my job is to get to the root of the problem. In this case, I believe that the author of these specs was probably a disciple of the Farm Code, and more than likely, a farmer, who was hungry and had beets on his mind when he wrote 4.5

This is just my analogy, but if anybody has a different one that beets mine, I'd love to here it.

Maybe they served on the D1.1 committee.

LOL.....Scott

I know I get fat fingered at times while typing, but I think it should have stated " shall meet D1.1"...although, I might be giving too much credit.

John,
I think one would have to have an awfully FAT finger to go from "M" to "B". LOL But I can sure see it happening.
