Well, in some ways we may have already passed that point, and expressed ourselves overly vehemently to such.  BUT, you are absolutely correct. 

1) Don't let them grind us down;
2) Don't lower yourselves to the standards of those you oppose;
3) Let all you do be done with charity, kindness, patience, longsuffering, etc;
4) Remember, it isn't about me;
5) We are here to help others.

Excellent advice Brent. I've always gone out of my way to be nice to others because I never know when I'll need a character witness.

If anyone is wondering about my comments and line of thinking, you have to check out what Clif said:  The phrase is then generally reworded into "Don't let the bastards grind you down". Quote from more than one source going through each word and describing the literal translation and how it gets put together.
