Hi All,

For a job of mine, I have a WPS for the SMAW, overhead, uphill S355J2H to S355 J2H ( 3 mm to 32mm). But i have to change a secondary structure RHS 60x40,3mm  from S355J2H to ASTM A500 due to the non-availability. This is being welded to S355J2H primary column structure and a plate of the same structure.

Can I use the same WPS S355J2H to S355 J2H  or I need to qualify a different WPS for the different grades?

Please advice

You need to specify the Code / std applicable to your job.

You need to qualify if you are referring to AWS D1.1 or ASME 9 for materials you mentioned.

But for EN ISO, as long as they are on the same material group, new welding procedure test is not needed.
