I have a new project where the Weld design is of a Fillet (Pipe to Attachment plate). The design engineer has given an additional requirement of Impact 27Joules @ -40 degrees. Now for welding the material I will be using the filler wire qualified for -40 or below temperature.
But my concern is that even though predominant joints are fillet only, due to the impact requirement mentioned in the drawing, do we need to qualify a butt joint WPQR with impact testing results??
Also the grades in the drawing are S355J2 & E460K2. Will we able to achieve 27 joules @ -40 degrees for these grades at HAZ samples????
I bet the answer is in located in the applicable welding standard.
GOPI DELLNER, what is the COC (code of construction)?
The Code of construction as per EN15085. Welding qualification as per ISO 15614-1.
