WE want to braze copper and steel for pressurized tank purpose. can we do this with safe and reliable way? other option is material except for stainlesssteel we can use brass?

Yes copper can be brazed to stainless with the joint strength of the copper base metal. The most important consideration is the design of the tank you wish to build. Where os the copper to ne used on the pressure vessel? The requirement for the best quality joint is furnace brazing so the strength of the copper after furnace brazing at around 1400°F is of importance.

If you can email me a print of the tank you wish to braze I could be of more specific help. Brass would not be the best for furnace brazing but not impossible. Better would be a copper-tin bronze. An alloy of copper and aluminum oxide call Glidcop could also be used.

“THE WONDER ALLOY”
A uniquely versatile very low heat alloy that joins white and pot metals with ease. Particularly suited for
soldering all types of dissimilar metals i.e.: copper to aluminum, brass to steel, zinc to stainless etc…
IDENTIFICATION: Silver Colored Soft Wire
APPLICATION: Torch or Soldering Iron
CRONABRAZE 53 SUPERIOR ADVANTAGES:
• TOTALLY LEAD AND CADMIUM FREE
• EXTREMELY LOW MELTING POINT
• MORE THAN TWICE THE STRENGTH OF ORDINARY SOLDER
• THIN FLOWING, SAFE AND NON TOXIC
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
TENSILE STRENGTH: 17,500 PSI (121 MPa)
TEMPERATURE: 360°F (182°C)
OPERATING PROCEDURES:
Base metal must supply heat as a direct flame is unworkable. A carburizing flame should be used.
Flux is required for all applications where good bondability is desired.
APPLICATIONS:
• CHROME PLATED ZINC DIE CASTINGS
• AIR CONDITIONING AND REFRIGERATION UNITS
• DISSIMILAR METALS SOLDERING
• HEATERS, RADIATORS AND EXCHANGERS
• ALUMINUM TO COPPER TUBING
CRONASOLV ™ F53 flux is required
for all applications

The “Maintenance Man’s” all purpose silver brazing alloy specifically formulated for general purpose
repair and maintenance applications.
IDENTIFICATION: Blue Flux Coating
APPLICATION: Torch
CRONASIL 43F SUPERIOR ADVANTAGES:
• HIGH DUCTILITY ALLOWS JOINED METALS TO EXPAND OR CONTRACT WITHOUT
WEAKENING THE WELD JOINT.
• EXCELLENT FOR ALL TYPES OF JOINTS, LAP, BUTT, FILLET, TEE AND SLEEVE.
• LOWEST TEMPERATURE BONDING ABILITY OF ANY HIGH STRENGTH SILVER
ALLOY, FLOWS AT 1100°F (593°C).
• JOINS ANY COMBINATION OF METALS, I.E., STAINLESS STEEL, COPPER, BRASS,
MONEL AND MOST OTHER ALLOYS, EXCEPT THE WHITE METALS.
• THIN FLOWING ABILITY ALLOWS PENETRATION INTO THE TIGHTEST JOINTS.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
TENSILE STRENGTH: 88,000 PSI (607 MPa)
APPLICATION TEMPERATURE: 1100°F (593°C)
OPERATING PROCEDURES:
Materials should be smooth and free of burrs or uneven edges. A carburizing oxy-acetylene flame
should be used, heating a broad surface along the joint line. Keep the flame cone one inch ahead of
the alloy rod and a continuous fillet will form. Clean flux residue off with water.
APPLICATIONS:
• INSTRUMENTS AND ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
• TOOL AND DIE REPAIRS
• HOT WATER TANKS AND PIPING
• CARBIDE TOOL TIPPING
• METAL FURNITURE AND LIGHT GAUGE METAL
ASSEMBLIES
• BRONZE AND BRASS CASTINGS
• VALVES AND LAB APPARATUS
If additional flux is required CRONASOLV ™ F40 is recommended.
