Peak Oil field, decent place, pays well
Udelhoven, never worked for em

I work for Alaska Interstae Construction, http://www.aicllc.com

The slope pays well, but keep it mind its cold and in the winter there is that 3 month period when the sun doesnt even come up. Those 2 sites I gave you are prolly the ones that are most likley hiring.

The average rotation is 2weeks on, 2 off. Busy times 6 on/2 off is somtimes common.

You must be good, and you will be given "make or break" test before bieng hired. While I worked on the slope I would bring home around 80K a year, keep in mind im only working 6 months out of the year as well .....not bad for a 21 yr old

Keep in mind Prudohe bay is a aging field, not a whole lot of discovery work going on, and personaly I see the gas pipeline project as a pipe dream.... Im also doubtful of ANWR ever bieng opened as well.

Good Luck

thank you for the sites. do they mostly do SMAW or others too. also about how many hours do they work

84 hrs a week is the norm (7/ 12's), I have had alot 110+ weeks. SMAWand GTAW are what is mostly used. You also have to have good fabrication skills.

If I hear of any openings I will post them, you have to pay your own airfare to Anchorage, they will fly you from there.

Also having a class A CDL is a huge plus, I would recomend getting one.

thats a lot of hours but sounds worth it. i would move to Anchorage. what is the A CDL. so is there alot of welding to be done on the pipe line and slope. thanks for all your help

I dont advise just moving to AK, get a job lined up before moving.

Most of the welding on the slope is maintence, and building small pipelines to fields around prudohe bay.

A class A CDL is a comercial drivers liscense with a trailer endorsement, local DMV's have the booklets on it.

here is another site http://www.ajcn.state.ak.us/akjb/ has slope stuff on it from time to time.

It was 24 deg this morning... only gona get colder
