Electroslag process

We want to use electroslag process for cladding.

Have any of you experience with this process?
What are the critical parameter and the most common defects?

What materials are you wanting to clad? (e.g. what is the base material and the desired overlay material?)

- We have to clad with INCONEL a piece of 500mm of thicknes, diameter of 4 meter made of SA-508 Gr3 Cl2 (P3)

The Thermaslag process was developed for welding 400-series stainless overlays on steel mill rolls. I don't know of any work that has been done with cladding Inconel using electroslag. It might be possible.
