hello. I have a ranger 8 generator welder and having a little trouble getting my heat set. I am welding stainless using a standard tig rig with a gas lens. I am running dc- polarity and been running 90-110 amps but havnt found that sweet spot yet. been welding with 5/32 316 filler. I am going to get some 1/8 and 3/32 mon. and i think will help alot. any help or advice?

3/32, or weld much hotter to compensate for the larger rod you're using.

The smaller filler wire will definitely help. I wouldnt go any hotter with your amperage. 316 Stainless is a single phase metal so you wont run into any martensite, but you can burn that chrome out of the base metal causing it to turn into chromium carbide which is a VERY brittle metal. Depending on what thickness metal you are welding I would use the 3/32 or 1/8 wire and run your amperage in the 60 to 80 amp range to start out. Let me know if this helps you out.
