All personnel that perform visual and dimensional inspection of weldments shall be trained and qualified. An annual eye exam of Jaeger 1 shall be given to each trained and qualified inspector. For welder, apply Jaeger no. 2 chart.
It is an eye chart. It has several paragraphs of different sizes. The inspector or welder has to be able to read the paragraph at a certain distance. ASNT sells the chart.
Go to asnt.com and then browse around and look for the "shop asnt" link. Once there, do a search for "jaeger", or "visual acuity". The are available for $8.65. I just looked this stuff up two days ago so its fresh on my mind.
