Has anyone ever experienced pin holes when applying 99% nickel to mild steel, all prameters meet supplier requirements but still getting the pin holes. sheilding gas is 98/2 argon oxygen using spray transfer plate is preheated to 200. any suggestions

This may sound silly, but what have you done to clean and prepare the surface of the carbon steel before welding?

May be this is to late with my comments but sometimes may help
removing conventional spring-insert from the torch & changing onto the new one with teflon guide also - the current tip of the torch shall be changed more frequently,
besides I like better 2%CO2 than 2%O2.
Improoving goes good with pulsed GTAW - 90Hz, basis ca100, peak150.
