DGXL,
I'm hoping he has a stud gun to shoot those studs, or it will be a long day for somebody. He was concerned about getting his guys up to speed with D1.3. I wasn't familiar with any of the weld tests, so I wasn't sure which of those in the book would be most useful for him. I figured the square groove butt - sheet to sheet, arc seam or arc spot - sheet to supporting member, fillet lap joint - sheet to sheet, fillet lap - sheet to supporting member, would probably be used the most, but Hey, I don't lay deck, so I didn't know.
I see that there are no prequalified joints, all procedures have to be qualified, What a bummer. It looks like there will have to be a procedure for each gauge of deck also, wait, they have a test to cover complete range of gauges.
I've got some reading to do, catch ya later,
John Wright
