Up Topic American Welding Society Services / Certifications / ASTM A513 GRADES? TENSILE ?
- - By david bean (**) Date 04-02-2010 16:16
I have Conducted a PQR using ASTM A513 round tube using .035 NR- 211.  The tension specimins failed in the base material away from the weld 56,000 lbs.

Is there a specific tesile strength for A513?

I would assume that this PQR would pass because it broke away from the weld,  but i need some clarification on this matter.

Im sure there is, but i dont have any specs at home.
look at the base materials MTR what were the tension test results?
sometimes they put the max and mins in the tale @ the top.
did it fail outside the HAZ?
I would look at the Specs for the base metal.
Id say ASTM513 as a spec.
google the material to get an idea if its in the range.

It depends on the type of the A513 you have it could range from 45,000 to 80,000.
Good Luck

I have the 2005 Edition of A 513 open in front of me.  As noted, the strength depends on the Grade Designation.  Strength also depends on how the tubing is made - as welded, normalized, drawn, etc.
