Dear Friends
Appreciate if you could guide me in undestanding the requirements as per AWS D1.1
We have qualified T-Y-K PQR- 6GR Test Coupon( API 5L X52 x API 5L X52 -AWS Group II ) for Mechanical testing.
T-Y-K Joint( used EH36 x EH36-Group II) For Macro Specimens
Question -Is it allowed to use Plate Material (Group II )for Macro-Specimens.OR is it only ALLOWED to use same base material as used for Mechanical Tests Specimens (API 5L X52 )
Appreciate prompt response

Im just curious what structural application you would use x52 pipe on. I've welded quite
a bit of it on a few pipelines but i've never seen it used for structural applications.

Dear Joe
We normally use IT for Helideck / Pipe Rack Bracings.
WPS/PQR used 2 different AWS Group II base materials.
One in 6GR Position using API 5L  & the other T-Y-K Position using EH36.
Is it allowed as per AWS D1.1?

Dear Friends
Is it mandatory or option to conduct Mock-Up Test( AWS D1.1-4.12.4.1) in qualifying PQR for 6GR-T-Y-K PQR?
Thanks

Nalla

The mockup test is mandatory when the dihedral angle is less than 30 Deg. you can find the detail of mockup in 4.12.4.2, figure 4.26 and table 3.6; the plate you proposed is good enough.

Hope it help
Cheers
Mike
