I was just about set on getting a Lincoln 175 and now this comes out. Has anybody checked it out yet? The built in pulser would be nice.

The Lincoln 175 was a very good machine, if they could get away from the "auto-balance" thing. I hate auto-balance.

Actually, I liked the Lincoln 175 over the Miller offerings.

FWIW-I really don't think you will get hurt buying either the Miller or Lincoln in this class of machine.
My only beef is the 125 amp torch offered by Lincoln in comparison to Miller's 150 amp torch. Gas lens accessories on the 125 amp torch can often get a 150 amp rating for this torch, however.

Look around-get a deal. You will be happy with either machine!

Good Luck

Lincoln's site says you can turn off auto balance on the 185 machine. I guess you weren't the only one who hated it.

There is a lot more to this machine than meets the eye. A completely redesigned transformer provides an exceptional arc characteristic. Micro Start technology for light gauge low amp welding makes this machine shine. I think that Lincoln did some great homework on this machine.

Have they solved the arc-rectification problem found on the square wave 175 and 275 models when > 25% helium was used as a shielding gas? The current square wave, and precision tig 275 manual shows this still to be a problem.

OK, I now have been able to review the tig 185 as well. It also has the
arc rectification problem with > 25% He. See manual pages E-4,E-5.
So it appears this is a common problem on all of the Lincoln Tig machines. As far as I've heard from Synchro owners, this has never been a problem.
