I'm at 70 and I hear *****ing about it all the time. For a field welders with a rig, the rate really should be closer to a hundred. We drive a rolling bomb, and get burned and electricuted for a living.
I charge 55.00 in the shop and 65.00 for onsite work. Plus consumables . I would like to be charging more but I not sure if that is a good idea right now.
Weldors should command a high rate.
Mechanics 10 or 15 years ago were getting $85 an hour. At least that is what was posted at the San Diego Merecdes dealers. I think my Honda dealer here in town charges $85 an hour.
I get a Day Rate whether it is 5 minutes or 8 hrs, AND................... you wouldn't beleive me if I told you.
Hey Cactus why dont you share the wealth with us poor hands that work for you...? Lol...! Maybe bump up our rate 15 or 20 more bucks an hour...? Lol..!
You are still GREEN, And you already want a raise ? Here is an Idea. Demand more and you will get more. First thing you need to do is get out of Houston ! Rates will NEVER go up there. When we were in New Iberia, I paid $20.00 an hour more than ANYONE else in the Area.
GREEN...??? Im NOT green. Im BRIGHT GREEN...!!! Lol. I think you are right. When I get off Vacation Im going to hit the road for a few months. Hey you cant blame a guy for trying to get more money..!!!
Give me a call when you get back
All new customers pay $125Hr. here. Established, no hassle, good paying companys get a $100Hr rate.
and to add to what sourdough said, we show up like an ambulance at all hours of the night when we are called for an emergency, we fix other peoples screw ups, in the mud, cold, rain, out in some god awful Field or under a greasy machine.
