I don't have an A5-4 copy

A student brought me a stainless SMAW electrode (E308L-16) which is typical... But about an inch down the flux coating there are more numbers (10048)

I don't know what the extra numbers represent... I did a quick google search on "SMAW stainless electrode designation" as well as browsing the Lincoln and Hobart sites.~~~No joy

Anybody have answers ideas?

Thanks in advance

Contact the electrode mfg....sounds like it may be a mfg batch number or something particular to that mfg's process.

so no idea who's SMAW electrode that is?
Bummer....several electrode mfg's host their batch numbers or lot numbers online

Some manufacturers not only print lot numbers but codes that express dates, shift, and extrusion technician so they can trace right back to when where and who.
