Is this acceptable? Can you weld out a tank with this rod and pass X-ray?

pipeliners have been passing x-rays with 6010 5p+ bead and 7010 hyp hot pass fill(fills) and cap for a million years downhill all the way. sounds like your welders need a bit more practice time. good luck

7010 exists for the purpose of welding pipe in downhill mode.

The new hippy runs very nice I think. The last two jobs I've had were mainline construction, all hippy, 100% X-ray, and we completed both jobs (14 weeks worth) with a 0% repair rate..

Why would you want to use 7010 on tank welding. Most of the material is A36 or lower. You are over welding the joint and your rod cost is about 20% higher. All the big boys in tank repair use red rod. Why change?
