The ASM Materials Engineering Institute awards extension diplomas in five focused areas of study, ranging from corrosion and general metallurgy to testing and welding metallurgy.
To achieve an extension diploma, an applicant must successfully complete either Elements of Metallurgy OR Metallurgy for the Non-Metallurgist, and a series of courses in one of the following technical specialties.
