DEAR SIR

I AM FACING PROBLEM OF SHINY SPOTS ON WELD AREA AFTER MACHINING THE WELD. TIG ROD 410 IS BEING USED TO FILL THE HOLES IN THE CASTING JOB OF 410 STEEL.WHAT OTHER TIG ROD YOU SUGGEST?WILL ER 502 WORK AS COMPOSITION IS SIMILAR TO 410 AND LESS Cr CONTENT(THE ROD IS USED TO FILL THE PIN HOLE ONLY AFTER CASTING)

i think the "shiny spots" after machining are a result of an abrupt change in hardness on the welded surface.

Did you PWHT after welding.  This will often help disguise the weld on a machined surface.  CA15 (410) castings need PWHT anyway due to excessive hardness in the HAZ.  If you didn't PWHT, I'm surprised you aren't breaking your machining tools.  I wouldn't suggets mixing and matching filler metals.  ER502 is not stainless steel.

I agree that the shiny spots are hard spots, modern carbide milling cutters will cut amazingly hard materials, especially in small sections.
