Topic: Resistance welding seminar Activity: The 2.5-h class, part of the Section’s Welding Education Series, was held at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Warren, Mich., for 50 attendees. February 12 Speaker: Thomas Topper, executive director, prototype services Affiliation: Roush Automotive Collection Topic: The future of welding at Roush Activity: The Detroit Section recognized its patron companies and individuals. Their contributions, exceeding $10,400, were invested in the Section’s scholarship program. The Section has awarded $37,000 in scholarships during the 2014–2015 term. Ferris State University Student Chapter February 14 Activity: The Chapter hosted its annual fishing tournament with 25 contestants. Braving the wintry elements to win first-place honors were Brandon Bills, Brad Bills, Jaxson Butler, Adam Dobschensky, Clayton Reindl, Devin Thurston, Garrett Wallen, and Stuart Winters. MILWAUKEE January 22 Activity: The Section held a Trivia Night featuring a contest to test the members’ knowledge about welding. The winners included Chair Paul Fischer, Karen Gilgenbach, Chris Albanese, Ryan Baron, Jeremy Cudnowski, Anni VanDyke, Ken Karwowski, and Nathan Liszewski. RACINEKENOSHA February 20 Activity: The Section members and welding students at Gateway Technical College toured the Scot Forge Co. in Spring Grove, Ill., to study its operations.
